Mă gândeam să fac pauză de Paște de la Music Challenge, dar până la urmă m-am gândit că muzica e prezentă oricând în viața noastră, mai ales în momentele astea. Și tot în momentele astea ne gândim cu atât mai mult la acei oameni dragi din viața noastră, care nu mai sunt printre noi. Tocmai de aceea, azi, vă rog să împărtășiți:

La mine e vorba de I`ll be missing you, de la P. Diddy. Sau Puff Daddy, cum își zicea pe vremea aia. Sau Sean Love Combs, cum îl cheamă, de fapt. Îmi amintește de bunicul meu, despre care am scris în nenumărate rânduri, iar cel mai recent articol e Și într-o zi înveți să trăiești fără aer. Ani întregi nu am fost în stare să ascult piesa fără să plâng. Iar dacă începea să cânte într-un loc public, trebuia să ies din încăpere, altfel mă scotea de tot de pe șine.
Piesa a apărut pe 23 mai 1997, adică la șase luni după ce a murit bunicul meu. E un cover după celebrul hit Every breath you take, de la Police și spune povestea morții lui Notorious B.I.G., prietenul lui Puff Daddy, împușcat mortal pe 9 martie 1997, la doar 24 de ani. Diddy era atât de îndurerat de moartea prietenului său, încât a compus pur și simplu piesa și de abia după aceea a vorbit cu Sting despre drepturile de autor. Sting a fost, la rândul ei, emoționat și onorat, încât a acceptat ca Diddy să facă un cover după piesa lui. Mai mult decât atât, au cântat împreună melodia la MTV Music Awards, ridicând părul pe noi.
Refrenul piesei este cântat de Faith Evans, soția lui Notorius, alături de băieții de la 112, atât Faith, cât și 112 făcând parte din familia casei de producție Bad Boy a lui Diddy.
I`ll be missing you a câștigat un Grammy pentru Cel mai bun Duo sau Grup Rap în acel an. Mai important, a stat timp de 11 săptămâni în top, pe locul 1, fiind al doilea cel mai bine vândut cântec din anul 1997, cu peste 3 milioane de exemplare vândute. Pe locul 1, a fost Candle in the wind, tributul lui Elton John la moartea prințesei Diana, o melodie vândută în peste 11 milioane de exemplare în acel an, care a stat pe locul 1, în topuri, timp de 14 săptămâni.
Cu gândul la toți oamenii care au însemnat ceva în viața noastră și care acum nu mai sunt, vă las cu piesa aceasta și cu versurile ei, dar și cu provocarea de a-mi spune care e melodia care vă amintește vouă de cineva drag, care a murit.
